Sow a seed haiti relief collections have arrived and are being Distributed in port-au-prince

SAS Volunteers in Miami and Haiti Unite to Bring Donations Collected onto the Right Hands

MIAMI (January 22, 2010) - After a week of collecting Haiti Relief donations provided by the South Florida community, Sow a Seed (SAS) immediately took action to transport and distribute the supplies to Haiti’s earthquake survivors on Thursday, January 21, 2010. A plane, sponsored by Fed Ex, successfully airlifted seven pallets of much needed medical and hygienic supplies to Port-au-Prince where SAS Haiti volunteers waited on ground to unload the plane and load up trucks to distribute to various hospitals. A second delivery with other medical supplies and food is scheduled for the weekend.

Since SAS was informed that it would take another week to have the supplies delivered via its non-profit organization partners, SAS sought immediate assistance with Fed Ex and contacts on the ground in Haiti who had immediate resources to distribute the supplies directly to the needy. This first delivery was successful.

The water that was collected was delivered to NOPIN Long Distance who is also supporting a fundraising concert tomorrow to raise money for more water, the source of life to distribute to Haiti.

Sow a Seed is a non-profit organization created by a group of young professionals based in Miami and Haiti. SAS Haiti Project Leader Dayana Apaid facilitated the process on the ground with the help of Michele Dominique, Clyde Doura, Nadim Alkhal, Youri Boulos, Dimitri Boulos, Gennaro Salim Bene, Chris Doura and Karim George and many others. The South Florida SAS team included SAS founder Claudia Apaid and Logistics Leader Sandrine Alkhal with the assistance of many young South Floridians.

SAS believes in hope. With the continued assistance of donors, volunteers, charitable organizations, churches and businesses, Sow a Seed and donors will continue in the mission to rebuild the lives of Haiti’s earthquake survivors.
