Shaggy Supports New Wings for Little Angels with OPERATION: Angels Rise

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, May 8th, 2010 – Apart from singing musical hits and snagging Grammy Awards, international reggae artist, Shaggy, still finds more time to help Jamaican children in need of health care. Now his efforts have crossed the borders as the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation partners with Sow a Seed, a Florida-based charity organization, to raise funds for new and refurbished wings at Bustamante Hospital for Children. The collaboration has been named OPERATION: Angels Rise and is scheduled for launch on May 15th, 2010 at the Fiction Lounge.

OPERATION

Angels Rise is a series of events scheduled for the Summer and Fall of 20 10 to take place in Jamaica and the U.S. The events are planned around various activities aimed to raise funds to benefit Jamaican and Haitian children in need of health care and other vital necessities through the help of the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation and Sow a Seed. Proceeds will go to building wings at the Bustamante Hospital for Children for rehabilitation services to Jamaican children throughout the island and to Haitian orphans affected by the January 12th earthquake.

From 2004, Sow a Seed has been providing basic fundamentals to orphans living in Haiti’s extreme poverty. Since the earthquake, the number of orphans has nearly doubled. As a non-profit organization solely comprised of volunteers, Sow a Seed now has a greater need to help these children rise above the rubble and rebuild their lives. Additional funds raised will also help Sow a Seed to continue providing basic essentials – such as food, shelter, and education -to orphans in Haiti, with the long-term goal of building their own orphanage.

Together, more Jamaican and Haitian angels can rise to new aspirations. In unity, there is hope.

About Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation

For many years, Shaggy has been supporting the Bustamante Hospital for Children. As the main pediatric hospital in Jamaica, resources to treat children with the necessary health care are stretched due to limited facilities, expensive medical equipment, and the lack of funding from the public and private sectors. In 2008, the Shaggy Make a Difference

Foundation was created to raise funds forthe hospital, so the lives of many more children can be saved. For more information on the foundation and how you can make a difference, visit www.shaggymakeadifference.org
